Salient features of the XAT Exam

  • XAT exam has four sections, namely Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Knowledge. VA RC, Decision Making and Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation comprises of part 1 and is used to calculate the percentile in the XAT exam. Part 2 of the exam is comprised of General Knowledge Section. Marks in the General Knowledge section are not taken into consideration while calculating the XAT score and percentile.
  • There is negative marking in the exam which is equal to (1/4th) of the marks allotted to the question. However, there is no negative marking in the General Knowledge Section.
    In XAT exam you also get penalized for leaving the question un-attempted, there is a choice of leaving eight questions in the whole examination, but after that, there is a penalty of 0.10 marks per question left un-attempted. For example, if you leave equal to or less than 8 questions, then there is no penalty for the un-attempted question. But if you leave 13 questions in total then you will be penalized (0.10*(13-8))=-0.50. These -0.50 marks will be deducted equally in the 3 sections of part 1. Read more about XAT exam pattern.
