SNAP Exam Pattern Format & Marking Scheme

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) 2019 exam paper pattern and format has changed to the computer-based exam that is SNAP exam is conducted in an Online Mode across various centers in India. Earlier SNAP Paper Pattern used to be pen and paper mode format, but from 2017 onwards it is conducted in online that is a computer-based format. SNAP 2019 test is a national level MBA entrance exam for MBA admissions for the batch of 2020-22 to 15 premier Symbiosis institutes in India including SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune, SIBM Bangalore. In SNAP 2018, SIU introduced variable marking scheme as well that is +1 & -0.25 for MCQ questions and +2 and -0.5 for special questions. In SNAP marking scheme no marks are deducted for un-attempted questions. In SNAP 2019 pattern, current affairs section has been removed and the marking scheme has also been changed. Changes in the SNAP 2019 pattern are discussed below. 

SNAP exam full form is the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test. SNAP exam is conducted for admission to 15 premier colleges under SNAP Umbrella. SNAP 2019 official notification is out and the SNAP Exam date is on December 15, 2019, and the exam will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM as a computer-based test at 92 cities across India. Symbiosis International University (SIU) Pune conducts SNAP exam annually for admission to its 15 Symbiosis MBA colleges. The last date to apply for Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP 2019) is 23 November 2019 (Saturday).

Due to flexibility of the types of questions which can be asked in computer-based exam format, Symbiosis International University (SIU) has brought about several significant changes in SNAP 2019 exam pattern and to a large extent, SNAP has moved on footprints of Common Admission Test (CAT) exam by introducing Special Questions or TITA questions. In SNAP 2019 exam pattern Current Affairs section has been removed with variable marking in each section. That is +1.5 marks in General English Section: Reading Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability and +1.5 marks for Analytical and Logical Reasoning & +1 for each Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency normal question and +2 for special questions. Special questions are only the QA section of the SNAP 2019 exam. Special questions are similar to the TITA questions asked in the CAT exam where a candidate needs to type in the answer using a virtual keyboard rather than selecting an alternative from the multiple-choice question.

What are Special Questions in SNAP exam?​

SNAP introduced special questions in the year 2018. Special questions are similar to TITA questions in CAT exam where the candidate needs to answer the question using the on-screen virtual keyboard. In CAT all questions carry the same marks however in SNAP special questions are given +2 for each correct answer.  There is a negative marking of (1/4)th of the marks that is -0.50 for each incorrect special question. There is no negative marking for the question which is un-attempted be it special questions or the MCQ questions.

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP 2019) is a national level MBA entrance exam for admission to MBA programs in 15 Symbiosis Institutes which are affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU) Pune.
Similar to all National level MBA exams SNAP 2019 exam tests the candidate on 3 skills, Language skills via “General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability Section”, Aptitude skills via “Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency Section”, Logical skill and out of the box thinking via “Analytical & Logical Reasoning Section”. SNAP 2018 vs CAT 2018 Exam

The syllabus for the SNAP and CAT exam is almost same except SNAP has a dedicated section on current affairs as compared to CAT exam. Also, SNAP exam does not have any sectional time limit, i.e., any section can be attempted at any point of time during the exam; however, there is a sectional time limit of 60 minutes per section in the CAT exam. SNAP 2018 vs XAT 2019 Exam

SNAP and XAT exams have an almost similar syllabus, which enables aspirants to prepare for both the exam at the same time. The only difference is that XAT has a new section on Decision-Making skills, which is a different section to XAT exam as compared to various exams across India.

SNAP 2018 vs NMAT 2018 Exam

SNAP and NMAT exam are of the similar league. Syllabus for both the exam is quite the same except the fact that SNAP exam has a new section for Current Affairs or General Knowledge. There is no negative marking in the NMAT exam, and in NMAT exam the order of the section has to be pre-selected before the start of the exam, and there is a specific time limit for each section as discussed in the table below.
