PGDBA Eligibility and Admission Criteria for Final Selection and Selection Procedure

The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) is jointly offered by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) CalcuttaIndian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) endeavors to shape the emerging role of business analytics by giving a cutting edge educational and practical experience to graduate applicants with an ambition of building a career in the field of business analytics and management. PGDBA is a two-year full-time residential diploma program aimed at creating business analytics professionals, making them employable by at leading Indian and international organizations. PGDBA Eligibility, selection procedure, and final admission criteria are discussed below.

PGDBA Selection Procedure

PGDBA selection procedure includes a written test followed by personal interview. PGDBA written test will be held on tentatively on February 16, 2020, and candidates shortlisted after the written test will be called for personal interviews to be conducted around last week of March. The final offer would be made based on performance in the written test and the personal interview. Extra points are awarded for academic achievers and candidates with work experience. Cities for PGDBA written examination and personal interviews are: Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai.

Reservation: As per the Government of India stipulations for SC/ST/NC-OBC and PWD candidates.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for PGDBA

Following is the minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the PGDBA exam:

  • Candidate must hold a graduate/post graduate degree with any of the following:10+2+4/10+2+5/10+2+3+2 with a Minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Qualifying Degree (i.e., B. Tech./ B.E./ M.Sc./ M.Com or equivalent).
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST category or Person with Disabilities (PwD) category candidates, the qualifying marks for eligibility will be 55% or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
  • Candidates, who are in the final year, are also eligible to apply for the PGDBA exam provided they appear in the final examination of their graduation/post graduation and complete other academic requirements as specified above by May 31, 2020.

Criteria for final selection to PGDBA for the Batch 2019-21

PGDBA admission criteria include the candidate’s final score for selection in the PGDBA program. The final score is calculated based on the table below, which indicates the criteria and their weights to be used for the final selection to PGDBA Program conducted by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur and Indian Statistical Institute for the batch 2019-21. Due weightage is given to the academic performance and the duration of the work experience.

*For calculating the total percentage of marks obtained in Class X and Class XII, the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the final mark sheet or grade sheet will be considered irrespective of whether the Board uses them for calculation of final percentage.

For points allocation in work experience, a maximum of six points will be given depending on the length of service as on January 31, 2020. Refer to Table below for point allocation for work experience. Formal work experience after graduation will be considered as valid. Training/project work/work done as an integral part of the curricular requirement will not be counted as valid work experience.
